Hello and welcome to A Silken Thread. I specialise in providing kits, classes and individual tuition in traditional techniques of hand embroidery as well as tackling restoration projects and new commissions.

Whether you are a beginner, just starting out, or a more experienced embroiderer looking to develop your skills, I can help. My kits are fully supported by detailed instructions, showing photographs of every stage and stitch so that you can build your confidence at home. I also stock a useful range of key accessories to help you in your work, all of which I use myself and personally recommend.

I also offer classes and individual tuition online as well as in a range of locations to help you master these beautiful techniques and create something you can truly be proud of. I am a fully qualified Royal School of Needlework Tutor and have taught for the School for a number of years. You can therefore be sure that you are getting expert tuition and learning the correct techniques to develop your skills.

If you have a piece of original embroidery that may have seen better days, but deserves a new lease of life, I may be able to help. I underwent extensive training in the Royal School of Needlework Studio and have continued to work there as an employee, so I have extensive experience in repair and restoration. You may have an old family sampler which needs mounting for re-framing, or a seat cover that is torn and stained. There are options for putting such pieces back on display in your home rather than hiding them away in a cupboard, or worse, consigning them to landfill!

Whatever your embroidery need or question, do get in touch and I can almost certainly help!
